GENERAL TIPS

Select multiple items in a list:
Hold the CAP key while rolling the trackwheel.

Select a check box:
Press the Space key. To clear the check box, press the Space key again.

Move down a screen:
Press the Space key; Press the Shift key + the Space key to move up a screen.

Scroll horizontally in any text field:
Hold ALT and roll the trackwheel in any text field.

Quickly view options in any list:
Hold ALT and roll the trackwheel to scroll through an options list.

Access Taskbar on any screen:
Press the ALT + Escape key. This also allows you to switch to another application if you continue to hold ALT, select the application, then release ALT.

Quick Menu or Options list item jump:
Type the first letter of an item in a list/menu to jump directly to it.

Rearrange the Ribbon:
In the Home screen (ribbon), hold the ALT key and click the trackwheel to bring up a menu. You can then select Move Icon, Hide Icon, or Show All. If you hide an icon, to show it again click Show All and it will appear with an ‘X’ over it, bring up the menu on it and uncheck Hide Icon.

MESSAGE SORTING SHORTCUTS

~Press ALT + ’I’ to show only incoming mail; press ALT + ’O’ to show only outgoing mail.

~Press ALT + ’P’ to show phone log messages.

~Press ALT + ’S’ to show SMS messages.

~Press ALT + ’V’ to show VoiceMail messages.

DEALING WITH MESSAGE ATTACHMENTS

~Hold ALT and roll the trackwheel to pan horizontally across an image.

~Press ’3’ to zoom in on an image. To keep zooming, hold Shift and roll the trackwheel.

~Press ’9’ to zoom out of an image. To keep zooming, hold Shift and roll the trackwheel.

~Press ’.’ (period) to rotate an image.

NAVIGATING SHORTCUTS

~Press ‘T’ to go to top of message listing; Press ‘B’ to go to end/bottom of message listing.

~Press DEL to close message listing and return to Home Screen (ribbon).

~While in a message:

~Press ’B’ to scroll to the end of the page

~Press ’P’ to jump to the previous message

~Press DEL to close the message and return to message listing

OTHER TIPS

~Press ALT-CAP-DEL to reboot your BlackBerry.

~Use the Symbol (Sym) and Currency ($) keys to enter characters not visible on the keyboard.

~Being in fringe/no coverage areas eats up battery life; to conserve it, turn your BlackBerry’s radio off manually or use Options/Auto On Off to conserve battery life.

~Dial a number with letters, ie. (800) WIN-CASH, by pressing ALT and typing on the QWERTY keyboard.

~Enable the ‘Prompt’ option in mail options to choose to delete from mailbox and/or BlackBerry when deleting messages.
